'Horner and Wolff's salary; that's how much money these team bosses pocket'
- GPblog.com
Of all Formula 1 drivers, we know what they earn (approximately) per year in Formula 1, but what about team bosses? The French Sportune wrote that Toto Wolff earns the most, with Christian Horner in second place. Team bosses don't earn as much as some drivers, but they certainly won't have to worry about their gas bill.
Wolff would be credited with at least 16 million euros a year for his activities at Mercedes' team. Christian Horner is on the payroll for a sloppy 8 to 12 million euros per 12 months.
Last week saw many shifts in terms of team bosses in the king class of motorsport. Frederic Vasseur is moving to Ferrari as Mattia Binotto's successor with immediate effect, Andrea Seidl is swapping McLaren for Audi, Andrea Stella was promoted to new team boss at McLaren and Jost Capito left Wiliams. According to the aforementioned medium, names like Seidl and Vasseur can count on around €6-8 million with their new challenge.
Salary falls outside budget ceiling
Team bosses' salaries, like drivers' salaries, do not fall under the budget cap. This is because the three highest-earning team members are exempt from this, while the rest of all salaries have to stay within the budget cap.
