'Vasseur hasn't done amazing things at Alfa Romeo'

Martin Brundle has his doubts about Frederic Vasseur' s appointment at Ferrari. According to the Briton, the Frenchman faces the toughest task in Formula 1 and it remains to be seen whether he is up to the task.
After the announced departure of Mattia Binotto, Ferrari acted quickly and Vasseur was acquired from Alfa Romeo. Vasseur has a rich history in motorsport, but has never been at the helm of such a big brand as Ferrari. So the question is whether he is ready for this yet.
Tough job for Vasseur
''One of the toughest jobs in sport is team principal of the Ferrari team. That's a tall order. I'm not sure why Ferrari would choose now to have a month without a boss, and then another month while Fred joins. He has a strong history of success in motorsport, mostly in junior racing. Has he done amazing things at Alfa Romeo? Not really. But we will see if he has the skills required to take Ferrari in the right direction,'' said Brundle in Sky Sports' Season Review.
Vasseur is praised for his merits in motorsport, but his bond with Charles Leclerc is also seen as a plus. He could give the young Monegasque more confidence and possibly appoint him as the first driver. According to Brundle, this would be a mistake at the expense of Carlos Sainz.
''If they have taken Vasseur on because he was close to Leclerc is completely the wrong reason. It's a bigger job than that. Ferrari have Sainz and Leclerc, one of the finest driver pairings in Formula 1. They both need to feel loved and supported,'' said Brundle, who does not believe Vasseur will go to Ferrari with that prejudice already.
