Red Bull junior Edgar gets new chance in F3 from MP Motorsport
Jonny Edgar will join MP Motorsport next season. The Briton, part of the Red Bull Junior Team, will compete with the Dutch team in Formula 3, where he hopes to compete at the top of the world championship.
In 2021, he made his debut in Formula 3. Racing for Carlin, he got off to an excellent start with two fifth-place finishes in Barcelona and Austria, after which his results deteriorated. This calendar year he drove for Trident, but suffered from Crohn's disease.
Edgar is confident he will have a great year with MP Motorsport. "I’m really happy to become part of the MP family for 2023," he states at MP Motorsport. "The team are proven race winners in FIA Formula 3, a fact that they have consistently showed over the past few seasons."
"This year has been difficult with my health issues, but I have fought back and really worked on my fitness in the car. So now I’m relishing the thought of a fresh attack on FIA F3, as it feels like unfinished business to me. I can’t wait to get going!"
MP Motorsport enthusiastic about Edgar
The Dutch formation has been competing in the sub-top of the championship for years. MP Motorsport expects to take the next step in the team's development with Edgar. "He is an outstanding driver with loads of natural talent, his titles in karting and Formula 4 vouch for that," says team boss Sander Dorsman.
"We look forward to having a hand in rebooting his promising career by providing him with a competitive F3 car," he reveals about next year's possibilities. "Bring on 2023!"
