Alonso does not want to compare disaster year at Alpine with period with Honda

Fernando Alonso had a difficult season at Alpine due to numerous drop-outs. Yet the Spaniard does not want to compare his past season with the disaster years at McLaren-Honda.
With six stoppages, Alonso's season was difficult. In his last year for Alpine, the problems started as early as Saudi Arabia, after which the two-time world champion would suffer from engine problems or their consequences (grid penalties) almost every week.
Bad luck for Alonso
It is not unfamiliar territory for Alonso. In fact, during his time at McLaren, things went the same way between 2015 and 2018. Back then, the Honda engine was described by Alonso as a GP2 engine. Precisely that also makes the difference from last season. ''Our feeling was much better once we finished a race. With McLaren-Honda, we were always outside the points,'' Alonso stated according to Motorsport.com.
Alonso leaves in 2023 for Aston Martin, which, while finishing lower than Alpine in the last season, did manage only six breakdowns in total with two drivers. The Mercedes engine has been reliable for years, which should give Alonso hope.
