Horner on Verstappen's extraordinary performance: 'One forgets that'
- GPblog.com
Christian Horner finds it incredible to see what Max Verstappen is capable of. The Dutchman took his second career world title this calendar year, putting him on a par with the likes of Fernando Alonso and Emerson Fittipaldi. For the team boss, it is clear that there is more in store.
Verstappen was able to showcase his qualities for the first time last year, taking the title battle to Lewis Hamilton. After finishing the race year victoriously in Abu Dhabi, he managed to take the form with him this season and once again take the top prize of the year.
Speaking to Formula1.com Horner points to Verstappen's age. "One forgets that he’s still so young, you know, [25] years of age," the Briton states. "Doing that last year, [and then] coming into this year, I think he just made another step."
Horner sees mature Verstappen
Horner is referring to Verstappen's development towards maturity. Indeed, the driver showed on track this season that he was able to assess situations better, securing points earlier. Horner therefore knows that Red Bull can continue on the current line. "It’s been an incredible season for him, it’s been an incredible season for the team," he said.
