Audi will be at the start of the F1 season from 2026. The German carmaker is joining forces with Sauber and will have its own F1 team on the grid as the title partner. Audi is already building the new team and also preparing for the budget cap.

Audi looking for financial advisor

With the Volkswagen Group's commitment, Audi and Porsche have been 'admitted' to Formula 1. Strict conditions for the car brands' participation was that the new regulations would be a lot more sustainable. The FIA came to an agreement with Volkswagen, which means Audi will be on the grid as an F1 team in 2026. Porsche is still looking to partner with an existing team in the sport, after its deal with Red Bull Racing fell through.

Audi is already busy making preparations at its headquarters in Neuburg an der Donau, Germany. Facilities are being expanded in a big way and staff numbers are also set to be particularly large. The latest vacancy on Audi's website is for a financial adviser to maintain the budget cap and liaise with the FIA regarding expenses. With this, Audi hopes to avoid a major frenzy like Red Bull's budget overrun in 2021.

Audi proud of F1 plan

The financial adviser is to be an independent observer who will support the various departments of the Audi F1 project, where necessary, as a single point of contact for all questions regarding the FIA's financial regulations. Incidentally, this is not the only vacancy Audi has open for the car brand's F1 branch. Audi is also looking for numerous engineers, mechanics, and coordinators for all the different facets of the F1 engine and car.

In the vacancy, Audi sounds proud of the fact that an F1 drive is being made for the first time since 2009 (BMW Sauber withdrew as a constructor from F1 after this year). The Motorsport Competence Centre will be the headquarters for the new F1 team, which will join Sauber in making its own F1 car as an Audi factory team from 2026.
