Wolff sees future danger in F1: 'They have the financial strength'

Toto Wolff hopes to compete for the world title again with Mercedes in 2023. It is likely that he can expect competition mainly from Red Bull Racing and Ferrari, but in the future, the Austrian believes that more teams are eligible for victory. He therefore warns other teams not to underestimate anything.
Speaking to Motorsport-magazin.com Wolff points to the future entry of Volkswagen. For instance, Audi will partner Sauber, while Porsche is also making the switch. The Mercedes team boss by no means underestimates the brands, he stresses.
"I would never underestimate the Volkswagen group, be it Audi or Porsche, when embarking on such a project," Wolff states. "They have the financial strength, know-how and racing expertise to come up with a great project. They are definitely on my radar. They can definitely be one of the teams that succeed in 2026."
Strong interest in switching to F1
In three seasons, engine suppliers will face new regulations in Formula 1, making it more interesting for them to make the move. As a result, Ford, Hyundai and Cadillac are also reportedly exploring options to join the motorsport class.
