Fernando Alonso, along with Lewis Hamilton and George Russell, will be in action during Pirelli's first days of testing at the beginning of February. The three drivers will do so at the Jerez circuit in Spain.
In less than a month's time, the Mercedes drivers and Alonso will get to take to the track for the first time in 2023. On 7 and 8 February, the three will be in action for Pirelli's test days dedicated to tyre development. Last December, Nyck de Vries and Carlos Sainz also came into action for Pirelli to test the rain tyres. It is forbidden to work on the development of the new 2023 car during the test days.
Alonso, Hamilton and Russell in action
Alonso will get behind the wheel of the AMR22 for the second time, which he already got to drive during the test day after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The Spaniard will make good use of the two test days with Pirelli to get used to his new team. Alonso will make the switch from Alpine to Aston Martin in 2023.
Hamilton and Russell will also be present at the Jerez circuit. Mercedes will drive the 2022 W13, but it is also a good time for the German racing team to slowly get going before the official Formula 1 test days in Bahrain at the end of February.
