Andretti spoke to Domenicali: 'He was very happy when we mentioned that name'

Michael Andretti has his sights set on Formula 1 and will not let the opposition he experiences from other teams get him down easily. Once he has a team on the grid, the plan is to compete for the world title within six seasons.
Andretti does not like the attitude of the existing F1 teams and says he only feels supported by McLaren, Alpine and FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem. "Zak wants to do whatever he can to help us get there and so has Alpine as well. Zak Brown and Alpine are two very good allies," the American said in conversation with Forbes.
Andretti remains positive about F1 participation
The owner of Andretti Autosport says it meets all the requirements, but the only thing missing until recently was the support of an OEM. The potential new F1 team now has that in the form of General Motors and Cadillac. "They are going to bring a lot to the party to help us get a race car on track. We are very bullish at this moment," Andretti continued.
At the same time, he realises that there is still a long way to go, but he is willing to go through whatever procedure is necessary. However, the biggest obstacle seems to be the other teams, who are not waiting for a new constructor. The FOM and the FIA appear to be diametrically opposed in this regard, although Stefano Domenicali responded positively to the collaboration with Cadillac, according to Andretti.
Andretti warns: 'We are coming in, in a serious way'
"Stefano was very happy when we brought up the name, Cadillac," the former McLaren driver continued. Andretti believes the addition of names like Cadillac and General Motors will also be a good development for F1, as the sport is experiencing strong growth in popularity in the United States.
Despite the opposition, Andretti remains determined to put a team on the F1 grid. "We are coming in, in a serious way," he sounds warning. "It will take a long time to get there, but eventually we want to be one of the top teams in Formula One. Our end goal is to be competing for the World Championship five or six years down the road."
