Lewis Hamilton is to make another attempt to co-own a major English football club, suggests reports including The Mirror. The Mercedes driver, along with Sir Jim Ratcliffe, appears to be looking to make a serious bid to take over Manchester United.

Manchester United are without a doubt the biggest club in England. However, the club has failed to live up to high expectations for years, with supporters blaming the Glazer Family, the current owners.

The family is reportedly open to a sale and is now looking around for candidates. Several parties have already come forward to make a bid, with Ratcliffe also looking to make an attempt. As one of Britain's richest men, he would stand a good chance.

Hamilton has aligned himself with Ratcliffe, whom he sees as a friend and business partner. He could well use the driver's help, as billions are expected to be on the table to buy Manchester United. It is important for Hamilton to fight his way into the business world so that he has a new goal after his retirement from Formula 1.

Attempt to take over Chelsea

Earlier, the two men made a joint attempt to buy Chelsea. The London club ultimately went with a consortium formed by American Todd Boehly.
