Toto Wolff views James Vowles' move to Williams with pride. According to the Austrian, the British formation's new team boss has already shown that he has the qualities to lead a team, he said in a Williams press release.

"James has been a highly valued member of our team in his role as Motorsport Strategy Director, playing an integral part in our success in recent years. Having worked with him since I first joined the team in 2013, I know how diligent, capable and talented he is and have taken great satisfaction from watching James develop and grow over the past decade."

Wolff enthusiastic about Vowles' qualities

Wolff, therefore, regrets that Mercedes will lose Vowles' qualities from this calendar year. However, he felt that Vowles had meant enough to the German racing team over the years and that he deserved the challenge at Williams.

"While we are naturally sad to be saying goodbye to such a capable member of the team, I have no doubts whatsoever that he has all the necessary skills to become a fantastic Team Principal in Formula One. We wish him every success and are delighted that he will take this next step in his career with Williams."

Whereas Vowles was able to compete for victories with Mercedes in recent years, things are different at Williams. The British finished last in the constructors' championship in 2022, giving him a lot of work ahead of him.
