Formula 3 champion Martins finds new challenge in Formula 2
- GPblog.com
Victor Martins will start working in Formula 2 this calendar year. Indeed, ART Grand Prix is shifting him on from Formula 3, allowing him to try for a successful season with teammate Théo Pourchaire.
Last season, Martins, in his second year in Formula 3, closed the world championship winningly. The Frenchman recorded two wins and four podium finishes, which ultimately proved to be enough to stay ahead of the competition.
After the season, the driver did a test with a Formula 2 car in Abu Dhabi, which suited him very well. ART was also delighted with the performance he recorded with the car, which led to both parties deciding to take Martins up a level in 2023.
"I can't wait to discover the Formula 2 championship, which is tough and competitive, with such a professional and experienced team," Martins stated to the official website of Formula 2. "The tests made it possible to remove what little doubts I might have had about my adaptation because I felt comfortable and confident. My objective will therefore be to do everything possible to win the title in my first year."

Team boss Sébastien Philippe thinks it is a logical decision. "Victor made enormous progress in 2022 and has proven that in both difficult personal and sporting conditions, he has the mental strength and the talent to achieve great things at the highest level of motorsport."
