Vettel back to Red Bull? 'Need to see what he wants first'
- GPblog.com
Helmut Marko has opened the door wide to a return of Sebastian Vettel at Red Bull Racing. The 79-year-old consultant sees the retired four-time world champion as an addition to the team, although he wants to leave the choice entirely to Vettel. Marko therefore does not want to increase the pressure.
Vettel drove his last Grand Prix in Formula 1 in November. The German wants to have more time for his family and will also engage in social activities. He did not rule out a return to Red Bull in an interview last season, but Vettel does not want to rush anything. He has plenty of choices and returning to his old love is one of them.
Vettel at Red Bull?
"We know how he works. We know he is an open-minded, intelligent man," said Marko, who reckons it could be some time before Vettel responds to Red Bull's advances. "One of his arguments for quitting was his family life. And if he got into a managerial position, that would involve as much effort, as much travelling as he has had now."
At the Austrian racing stable, they would love to see Vettel return. The Heppenheimer would be of great value, according to Marko, although it is not yet entirely clear what possible position he could hold. "I think he needs to find himself first and see exactly what he wants," Marko said at Sport.de.
In any case, Vettel seems to have a management position in mind when he returns (wherever) to the top of Formula 1. Incidentally, Marko and Vettel already spoke to each other in 2022 about what they could do for each other.
