Alfa Romeo makes technical change: 'We were stuck in a corner'

Jan Monchaux is very pleased with Alfa Romeo's new car. According to the technical director, the C43 contains some major improvements over last season, which should improve on-track performance.
"We had to acknowledge that there was a better solution on how to manage the flow to the diffuser so the flow going to the rear tyres," Monchaux stated during the car's presentation. "But because of the decision we made on an architectural point of view, we were stuck in a corner."
Alfa Romeo therefore decided to opt for a number of changes in the new season. For instance, the car has a different cooling system, which means that the chassis and the way the hot air comes out of the radiators has changed.
Monchaux is happy with the steps Alfa Romeo has taken. "It's not a revolution, similar solutions were on the grid already last year," stresses the director. "But it's something we couldn't implement without the major change of the architecture."
New look of car Alfa Romeo
From the outside, the car has been given a completely different look compared to previous years. Indeed, Alfa Romeo has replaced the white colour for 2023 with black, while several sponsors are also new on the car.
