Alonso on future prospects: 'Becoming world champion with Aston Martin'
- GPblog.com
Fernando Alonso is about to start at Aston Martin. The Spaniard is looking forward to it and views his partnership with Lawrence and Lance Stroll positively. He had a say on this matter in a press briefing that GPblog attended.
Alonso sees no problems in the dynamic between him and the 'son of the boss', the young Stroll. "I have been here for long enough to know different things and to experience different teammates, different personalities."
'Proud to help this team'
The two have known each other for 11 years and Alonso hopes he can compete with the Canadian to win a championship in the future. “If one day, you know, we have an Aston martin dominating races and championships and the two drivers are fighting for the championship like Red Bull with Sebastian [Vettel] and Webber or [Mercedes with] Hamilton and Bottas and things like that to help [Lance], fighting for a championship will be a proud moment for me as well being part of these first steps in this brand.”
Aston Martin finished seventh in the constructors' standings last year, so they still have a lot of work to do in order to actually compete for the world title. Alonso indicates that this team is probably the last he will drive for, but he seems driven to make this dream come true.
