Gulf colours spotted at Williams after all
- GPblog.com
Gulf Oil is not out of Formula 1. The major US oil company first had a deal with McLaren, but are now sponsoring Williams. Although Gulf's colours are not seen on the Williams livery, the characteristic light blue and orange still sticks out at the team.
Williams not in retro Gulf livery
Williams putting an American back on the grid in 2023 for the first time in almost a decade pleases their US sponsor. The partnership between Gulf Oil and Williams raised hopes of a nice distinctive livery, but apparently, the oil company does not have that much influence on the team. However, Gulf like to see Williams run in a full Gulf livery for once next season, as they did with McLaren in Monaco in 2021.
For those disappointed not to see the colours back on the Williams, there may be a small consolation. Indeed, during the shakedown of the FW45, some members of the pit crew did wear Gulf-style overalls. The equipment at the pit box was also painted in light blue with orange areas.
