Mercedes confirm first chat over new contract for Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton is now 38 years old, but the Brit at Mercedes does not want to quit. He reiterated this during the presentation of the new Mercedes for the 2023 season. However, his contract with the racing team expires after this season.
Before the winter break, team boss Toto Wolff regularly told fans not to worry: Hamilton and he really would reach a new agreement. On Wednesday morning, Wolff revealed that no contract was signed during the winter break, but he reiterated that things are going to be absolutely fine.
Matter of time
"There has been a first chat," Wolff said during a press conference, which was attended by GPblog. "We have done a few of these contracts in the past and they change [small parts] so it's not usually complex. Apart from the obvious terms. We have had a first chat but I don't want to commit to the timeline. It's not important for us. It runs a full year and we will find the right time."
Wolff is not worried about Hamilton's age, as he heads towards 40. "Age does not play a role. Top athletes can push their limits."
