Hamilton tackled problems with Mercedes: 'Continuing to improve'
- GPblog.com
Lewis Hamilton is determined to put the disappointing 2022 season behind him. According to the Brit, Mercedes still have an excellent group of people capable of fighting for the world title again next race year.
"We have proved time and time again over the years that we have strength in depth," Hamilton told GPblog and others at the press conference. "We still have these incredibly talented individuals within the team. You don't lose that ability."
However, according to Hamilton, it does not mean that Mercedes should not take a close look at which parts need to improve. Indeed, for most of last season, the team failed to compete with Ferrari and Red Bull Racing.
"We are continuing to improve our processes, to be smarter in how we approach things. It's the best harmony within the team that I've seen in all these years. We have a fresh young group of engineers and people that have just come into the team."
Hamilton's confidence in Mercedes
Hamilton has indicated internally what improvements he would like to see to the car, and he highlighted how 2022's car didn't give the drivers confidence. "It's mostly characteristics of how the car behaves. Last year's car didn't behave how a racing car should. That took away confidence for the drivers."
"We've got through over and over again of the things we wanted changing. We believe they've been addressed, and once we get in the car we will find out how much they have been addressed and whether there's still more to do," said Hamilton, who is hopeful that Mercedes can bounce back in the new season.
