Three-time MotoGP world champion Jorge Lorenzo will compete in the Porsche Supercup in 2023. He will drive for Huber Racing and in that capacity will be part of the preliminary program of eight Formula 1 races.
Lorenzo to Porsche Supercup
It will not be the first introduction for Lorenzo, who has already seen action in the Italian Porsche Carrera Cup in 2022 and made a guest appearance in the Porsche Supercup at Imola. In 2023, he will drive the full season, which consists of eight races. All races are part of F1's preliminary programme and as a result, Lorenzo will be seen at Zandvoort and Spa-Francorchamps, among others.
Earlier, Lorenzo's long-time rival Valentino Rossi also announced he will race full-time on four wheels. The motorsport legend ended his career in MotoGP at the end of the 2021 season. This year he will compete as a factory driver for BMW, with which he has already competed in the 12 Hours of Bathurst.
Lorenzo became world champion on two-wheelers a total of five times: twice in the 250cc class and three times in MotoGP. In late 2019, he announced his farewell to the king class several months after he broke two vertebrae in a heavy crash, which left him out of action for weeks.
