Getting into racing is not easy, especially with classes like Formula 3, Formula 2, and Formula 1. Spots are limited, one has to have enough talent and perhaps even more difficult: enough money to afford everything. This all turns out to be even more complicated for women.

F3 offers financial support

GPblog attended a press event with Bruno Michel, CEO of F2 and F3, and also responsible for the new F1 Academy. There, the Frenchman addressed the issues that female drivers sometimes have to deal with, but also how they are supported in this one by F2 and F3. "I see it now from all the different drivers coming to sign to F1 Academy, it’s not easy for female drivers to find budgets. I hope this will change and this is why we are trying to help them as much as we can."

So what does this help look like? Michel gives the example of Sophia Floersch, who will make her comeback in F3 next season. F3 contributes to female drivers' budgets so that they have the chance to participate. So if a driver can't make her budget, F3 adds what is needed. "I am happy we can contribute to that and complete the budgets they need to go racing."
