Wolff wants to give Hamilton better car than: 'So he can finally win'

Toto Wolff reveals in an interview with Motorsport.com that he suspects this season will be a tough one for his team. He does, however, have high hopes of taking prizes, with the Mercedes team boss saying that the good parts of the car have been retained. The Austrian adds that the bad parts have been adjusted to the car, for instance, there have been updates to the car and they have tried to minimise bouncing.
Wolff looks back at Mercedes' previous car, the W13: "Our car was performing very well at the end of the season and some of the circuit we still had the famous bouncing". The W13's 'bouncing' was extremely noticeable in last year's tests. In these, the car bounced up and down the track and was at times "uncontrollable", according to the Mercedes drivers.
Compared to the W13, another notable change has been made this one has changed to a black colour. According to Wolff, this is mainly to do with the car losing weight. Because you can literally see the carbon on the W14, it is lighter than a version with paint on it.
Wolff on Hamilton
Wolff also comments on the 38-year-old driver in the interview. He says he would like to give Hamilton a more competitive car than last season: "So he is finally given the opportunity to fight for race wins". In this, the British driver finished behind his teammate. Hamilton struggled especially at the beginning of last season.
This week will be the winter tests, however it is not yet known when both Mercedes drivers will step into the black car. During these winter tests, we will get an indication of how competitive the car will be next season.
