Nico Hulkenberg is back as a regular driver on the Formula 1 grid after a few years. The German joined Haas this season. Between 2020 and 2022, he took on the role of reserve driver at various teams and was F1 expert at ServusTV. He spoke about the latter in an interview with Auto, Motor und Sport.

To go from full-time racing driver to media analyst may be a distinct transition, but Hulkenberg also learned from this experience. His view of the sport changed: as part of the media, he now views F1 from different perspectives. "I gave my opinion, my take on things, and the TV work with ServusTV over the past two years was actually quite fun for me," said the German.

'Didn't call the drivers idiots'

Hulkenberg was also asked whether he found it difficult to comment on his former (and future) colleagues and he had an interesting response. "It wasn't like I was too hard on them."

With the test days in Bahrain, the German will finally get to take to the track again. Then we will also find out whether his Haas is working properly and promising something for this season. At the first race weekend, we will get to see how his collaboration with teammate Kevin Magnussen goes.
