David Croft spoke to Adrian Newey in the F1 paddock and extracted an interesting quote. Indeed, Red Bull Racing's chief technical officer sees Aston Martin as a potential rival.

Newey and his technical team have again done a handsome job with the RB19. Whether the car is fast of course remains to be seen, but at least in Bahrain, it became clear that much has changed compared to the RB18. With that car, the team won the constructors' world title again for the first time since 2013 and Max Verstappen won his second drivers' title.

Newey looks at Aston Martin

In the Sky Sports broadcast, Croft reveals that he spoke to Newey on the paddock. "Adrian said he was pleased with what they've done. We don't know yet what the others are doing and that's why we are here at testing," said the British broadcaster's commentator.

Newey's most remarkable quote, however, comes when asked who he sees as his biggest rivals. Of course, he mentions Ferrari and Mercedes, but also 'maybe Aston Martin'. A remarkable name in the list, but perhaps Newey has a very high opinion of his former colleague Dan Fallows, who is now the technical director at Aston Martin.
