'RB19 front wing highly efficient and difficult to copy'
- GPblog.com
Red Bull Racing are in an incredibly good position again during the test days in Bahrain. The Austrian racing team seems to be the strongest team again based on the first two days of testing. According to Formu1a.uno, this is partly due to a very special front wing that Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez are driving with.
The RB19 features a 2023 front wing that is be very efficient, meaning less drag. The front wing is so specific and that replicating it and actually making it work would be very difficult. With this, Red Bull seems to have immediately opened a gap to the competition.
Mercedes are not in it, Ferrari looks better
Mercedes, on the other hand, are not running well at all. Toto Wolff spoke of a poor second day of testing and cannot deny that Red Bull are miles ahead at the moment. Fighting for victory is out of the question in the Bahrain Grand Prix. According to team boss, "the train with Red Bull has left the station".
From Ferrari, it is difficult to assess their position for now. During the first two days of testing, the formation from Maranello did not show everything, but in the morning session, Charles Leclerc is on top for now. On the C4s, he was four-tenths faster than Russell in the Mercedes on the even softer C5s. Red Bull have not yet run on soft tyres and so we won't see exactly where the RB19 stands until later.
