Horner fires at Mercedes and Wolff: 'That would drop them in the Sh**'

Christian Horner is throwing oil on the still-burning fire between Mercedes and Red Bull Racing in the new season of the Netflix series Drive to Survive. The Brit thinks there will be nothing left of Mercedes if Lewis Hamilton chooses to retire.
Hamilton is entering his 11th F1 season with Mercedes and the partnership has been very successful for a particularly long time. The success turned when he was beaten by Max Verstappen in 2021 and in 2022 when Hamilton and the team were beaten by the Dutchman and Red Bull. The rivalry between the two teams is still fierce and in the new season of the F1 series on Netflix, Horner adds oil to the fire.
Horner does not mince words
Horner thinks Mercedes will collapse without Hamilton and believes Wolff does not know what to do with a team that needs to cut to the chase. Horner: "If he did retire, who on earth would they take? That would drop them really in the s*** if he decides to retire. What are Toto’s options if Lewis were to retire? It leaves them pretty exposed."
Underpinning his statement, Horner observed that under Wolff's leadership, Mercedes had a very difficult time in 2022: "Each team, you could see, were making progress. But Mercedes were making a mess. It is a different landscape for Toto that he isn’t used to, since he came into F1, where suddenly he’s on the back foot. Let’s not forget Mercedes annihilated the opposition. Destroyed everybody. Finally, you start to see problems. Everybody is quite enjoying it!”
