'Stroll grabs plane to England for test in simulator'
- GPblog.com
Lance Stroll has caught a plane from Barcelona to Oxford. The Canadian hopes to be in action at the Bahrain Grand Prix, and will test at Aston Martin's factory to do so.
Stroll had to miss out on the winter test in Bahrain after suffering an injury to his wrist(s) in a cycling accident in Spain. Felipe Drugovich took Stroll's place during the test and on Sunday Aston Martin announced that the Brazilian will also fill in at the Bahrain GP if Stroll proves not fit enough.
Stroll's return
However, Aston Martin have given Stroll plenty of time to see if he makes it to the start of the season. The plan, therefore, was for the Canadian to board the simulator at the factory last weekend. On Monday, however, Stroll was only just spotted at Barcelona airport by a journalist from Soymotor.com. There he took a plane towards Oxford, which is about 50 minutes away from Silverstone.
Aston Martin had a strong winter test, with Fernando Alonso in particular managing to impress behind the wheel of the AMR23. The team is seen as a dangerous customer for this season. Mercedes in particular seems to need to look in its mirrors.
