Hill: 'Vasseur is going to break Ferrari's bubble'

With Frédéric Vasseur at the helm at Ferrari, a long period of almost two decades in which the team was exclusively run by Italian team bosses will be broken. Damon Hill thinks Vasseur is the right person to break Ferrari' s bubble.
Breaking that so-called 'culture bubble' within Ferrari could be of great importance for the Scuderia, according to the former F1 champion. Hill writes on OLBG.com: "it's a culture inside Ferrari. The way they go about their racing, the way they meet each other, how they eat. They're in their own little bubble. I think taking Fréd Vasseur will be a big advantage because he doesn't speak Italian."
Italian style versus British style
Vasseur, whether the team wants it or not, will bring a different, new style of working to the people there. According to Hill, in motorsport, the British way of working has proved best. So if Ferrari wants to take on Mercedes and Red Bull Racing, something has to change.
Hill: "I think Fréd will bring some of the culture from what he did at Alfa Romeo, and we will have to wait and see. My view is that he will make a big change. Whether it's enough to catch Mercedes, because they've been together for such a long time, just like Red Bull, we don't know. To break down that continuity factor that they've got is going to be immense"
