High expectations, but Vasseur will not completely change tack
- GPblog.com
There are high hopes for Frédéric Vasseur who has been team boss at Scuderia Ferrari since the start of 2023. The Frenchman steps in at a time when Ferrari is getting stronger. What can Vasseur do to take the next step and how much pressure is he feeling from the tifosi?
Vasseur benefits from pressure from tifosi
Italian F1 fans are known as a passionate and outspoken group. Vasseur just won't succumb to the pressure involved as team boss of an Italian team. Vasseur admitted there will be some different expectations due to Ferrari's fanatical supporters, but the team boss will care little about that. As quoted by Autosport.com the Ferrari boss said: "Honestly, I think that it is positive. When you are doing this, you want to have this [pressure]."
Vasseur not changing course
Ferrari opting for a non-Italian team boss after a period of almost two decades creates high expectations. F1 experts and analysts say it will be good for Ferrari to partly let go of the Italian working culture. Vasseur is in some cases being tipped as the second Jean Todt. In any case, Vasseur has indicated that these predictions will not come true. Indeed, the helm will not change in the upcoming period.
Vasseur: "We are doing it step by step. Small changes are coming in the coming weeks to improve." The Frenchman is keen to stress that it is not about Vasseur or the Ferrari name, but that the company's DNA is the most important thing.
