Final grid GP Bahrain | Verstappen on pole, Alonso ahead of Mercedes
- GPblog.com
The FIA has presented the final starting grid for the Bahrain Grand Prix. There were no changes to the starting grid for the final race after Saturday's qualifying session.
Red Bull Racing was well off in qualifying: Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez achieved places one and two respectively and will start from the front row of the grid. Behind them are the two Ferraris. Fernando Alonso starts from a respectable fifth place, ahead of both Mercedes.
De Vries is in the backfield
All of this year's rookies can be found in the rear. Nyck de Vries, Oscar Piastri, and Logan Sargeant all dropped out in the first round of qualifying. De Vries had the slowest time in qualifying but was saved from last place by Pierre Gasly seeing his fastest time removed towards the end of the session. The Frenchman will start his first race for Alpine from last place.
After qualifying, several cars had parts adjusted or replaced. The FIA checked all this and assessed that no rules had been broken. So no grid penalties will be handed out either.
