Verstappen on chances Ferrari: 'In Jeddah, everything can be different'
- GPblog.com
Max Verstappen joined the press conference after the Bahrain grand prix with a smile. The race winner could look back on the race weekend with a happy feeling. Red Bull not only had the fastest car over one lap, but also had the best race pace of all teams. Will the same be true in Jeddah, or can Ferrari make things difficult for the Austrians?
The prospects looked a lot less bright for the Dutchman heading into Friday's free practice sessions. The World Champion complained about the balance of his RB19. On Sunday, he seemed to suffer a lot less from that, although he wasn't surprised by that. "On Friday, I was unhappy with the one lap performance, my long runs were still okay, so not really surprised." Verstappen told the media including GPblog. "the one lap performance to the race is very different in balance requirements anyway."
Can Ferrari test Red Bull in Jeddah?
The two-time World Champion knows that success in Bahrain is no guarantee of future success. "I'm just, of course, happy that it worked out like this but Jeddah is going to be quite different again. Our car seems quite strong in high speed but you're right, I think Ferrari is quite quick on the straight which in Jeddah, of course, is very nice to have, let's say like that." Does that mean Red Bull might not be the fastest team in Jeddah? "Time will tell. It's really hard to know. We've only really driven these cars here in Bahrain so we just have to wait and see. We’ll, of course, try and get there in the best shape possible and then we'll find out throughout practice where we are exactly."
