'We just assumed Ferrari would pay attention this year'

F1 expert Peter Windsor did not know what he saw when Charles Leclerc's Ferrari SF23 once again failed during the first race of the F1 season in Bahrain. That Ferrari still does not have the engine's reliability in order is extraordinary, according to the Briton.
Windsor does not say it in those words, but he seems to insinuate that it is not just special, but that it is particularly bad that the team is once again starting the F1 season with engine problems. In 2022, the very reliability of the engine largely killed the team (alongside blunders and strategic errors).
Ferrari forgets biggest spearhead
In an afterthought on YouTube Windsor says: "Leclerc made the most of it and got to P3 quite comfortably, but out of nowhere he stalled and dropped out of the race. 'No power'. Ferrari," says the Brit eye-rolling. It seemed clear to the expert that Ferrari had a lot to find after 2022 in terms of tyres and grip and, of course, reliability.
Windsor: "We all just assumed, right? That Maranello was on top of it, on those reliability issues? [...] In general, reliability on the grid was very good, but there was Charles Leclerc in the Ferrari. That is just appalling really, at this stage of the regulations of the power unit, and that they shoul have that sort of problem."
