Double job for this Ferrari chief after Sanchez departure?
- GPblog.com
After just one race in 2023, there already seems to be a lot of unrest at Scuderia Ferrari led by Frédéric Vasseur. The team boss managed to dispel most of the rumours, but that aerodynamicist David Sanchez is leaving seems inevitable. Will Diego Tondi be his successor?
Is Ferrari solving it internally?
Vasseur got off his chest and managed to debunk most of the rumours circulating about his team after just one race. For instance, the team boss is said to have enough freedom of movement within the team to do his job, the talks between Charles Leclerc and John Elkann were just scheduled meetings and it is inevitable that people come and go at the team.
Someone who may be going is David Sanchez and that rumour seems to be becoming more plausible now that it appears there is also a successor. Unofficial sources report that Diego Tondi has been appointed head of car concept, the spot Sanchez held. Tondi is also head of aerodynamics at the team. Ferrari has not yet reported or confirmed anything, but for Tondi to hold two positions does not seem like a very strong plan.
If true, Tondi would possibly fill the position temporarily until a permanent replacement is chosen. There are rumours that Ferrari is looking at two prominent Red Bull Racing members to join the technical team.
