Szafnauer: 'Alpine made too many mistakes'
- GPblog.com
Before the season started Alpine had high hopes for their new F1 car, but once in Bahrain, we saw that the car still did not quite perform as the team hoped. Ahead of the Grand Prix at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit, Alpine's team principal looked ahead.
Pierre Gasly qualified in P20 in Bahrain on Saturday. Teammate Esteban Ocon did slightly better, qualifying in P9. In the race, Gasly scored points by finishing ninth.
Ocon had problems early on, he received no less than three penalties totalling 20 seconds, following which the team decided to call it a day and save the car for the next races.
Saudi Arabia expectations
Otmar Szafnauer expects Ocon's side of the garage to do better in Saudi Arabia: "we made too many mistakes across the weekend, and we can all do a better job to improve on those."
Whether the two Frenchmen will do better in Saudi Arabia than in Bahrain we can find out next weekend, when the fast circuit will be used in F1 for the third time.
