FIA withdraws penalty, Alonso celebrates 100th F1 podium with Aston Martin

Fernando Alonso celebrated his 100th podium in Formula 1 at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit, but could not enjoy the result for long. After the podium ceremony, the FIA gave him a 10-second time penalty, which meant that not Alonso, but George Russell, was the guest at the press conference. However, the Aston Martin driver did not care about the decision.
Alonso celebrates his hundredth podium
Alonso was given a time penalty by the FIA for not being properly positioned at the start. Only at the end of the race, it was announced that Aston Martin would not have served the penalty correctly. As a result, George Russell was promoted to the podium.
The 41-year-old Spaniard was not happy with the decision, and Aston Martin consequently entered into talks with the stewards. A little after 00:30 local time, a document appeared at the FIA clarifying the penalty. To this, Alonso decided to respond with a post on social media celebrating his 100th podium.
Alonso gets podium back
Sometime after, the FIA clarified the rationale behind Alonso's penalty, with new documents appearing on the governing body's website. The penalty was revoked and so the Aston Martin driver got his podium back.
