Wolff not angry with Red Bull: 'This is what makes F1 so special'

Toto Wolff has no grudge against Red Bull Racing now that the team seems to be so much better than the rest this season. The Mercedes team boss tells Sky Sports that such a period of dominance is a character trait of Formula 1 that he can only be happy about.
Since 2000, Formula 1 has experienced several periods of dominance. First, Michael Schumacher, who took the title five years in a row without too much resistance. Sebastian Vettel faced a bit more opposition, but was nevertheless able to win the title four times in a row. Between 2014 and 2020, nobody could really make things difficult for Mercedes. And now a new period of dominance for Red Bull seems to have arrived.
Wolff mainly blames it on himself
While it is particularly frustrating for the other teams that Red Bull is miles ahead of the rest, Wolff believes he cannot complain. According to him, such a period of dominance is something inherent in Formula 1.
"What makes the sport so special is that you need to work hard to win," Wolff analyses. "Then you deserve it, and that is a matter of fact. Even if it is not great for the show that the same guys win all the time, it is because they have done a good job and we haven’t. We will do everything in our power to fight back. Entertainment follows sport and Red Bull’s dominance is maybe not good for the commercial side, but it is what makes Formula 1 so special."
