Happy faces at Mercedes: 'We are on the right track'

Mercedes are looking back on the race weekend in Jeddah with a positive feeling. The German racing stable believe they are on the right track, as Toto Wolff said on the Mercedes website.
George Russell was so close to a podium finish, but had to hand over his trophy to Fernando Alonso after the stewards reversed the Spaniards penalty, restoring the original result. "That doesn’t take away from a race where the team maximised the current package we have, though," Toto Wolff stated.

The team boss said the weekend gave him hope. "The result in Jeddah was encouraging. It shows us that the trajectory we’re going in with the car development is the right one."
Yet Mercedes is definitely not yet where they want to be. "We want to hopefully be fighting for wins soon, and the Red Bulls are a minute ahead. We are making big elephant steps on developments in the factory. But it’s going to take a long time until they are adequate to challenge Red Bull. It’s a fun journey to climb back, though. Everyone is working flat-out."
