Red Bull sends Ricciardo into Australia's wilderness with RB7
- GPblog.com
Red Bull Racing has given Daniel Ricciardo a special 'test' ahead of the Australian Grand Prix. In a video on Red Bull's YouTube channel, Ricciardo goes out in an old RB7 to test the car in various Australian conditions.
Ricciardo was appointed a 'third driver' at Red Bull Racing at the end of last season. Exactly what that role would entail was not immediately clear, as Red Bull also has Liam Lawson and Dennis Hauger lined up as reserve drivers and Max Verstappen had indicated he was happy to do his own simulation work. In any case, ahead of his home race in Australia, Ricciardo is now getting behind the wheel of a Red Bull again, albeit a slightly older car.
Ricciardo gets help with special 'test'
In the video, Ricciardo drives the RB7, the car with which Red Bull and Sebastian Vettel became champions in 2011. Ricciardo takes the car through the extreme conditions of Australia, over rough surfaces, dusty roads and long coastal roads. During the video, Ricciardo gets support from several drivers from Australia: motorbike driver Daniel Sanders, stunt pilot Matt Hall, off-road racer Toby Price, and stock car driver Shane van Gisbergen.
