Max Verstappen has picked up his first penalty of this weekend in Australia. The Dutchman drove too fast into the pit lane at Albert Park and Red Bull Racing will now be presented with the bill for that.
Penalty for Verstappen and Red Bull
Verstappen has started the Formula 1 weekend in Australia well. The Dutchman drove the fastest time in the first free practice session, over four-tenths faster than the competition. Yet not everything went smoothly, as the Red Bull driver spun just before the end and will now be fined.
Indeed, during the session, Verstappen allegedly drove too fast in the pit lane. FIA documents show that the reigning world champion drove 86.4 kilometres per hour, where only 80 is allowed. The fine amounts to €700 and is on Red Bull Racing's account.
