Gasly gets no penalty for incident with Ocon during restart
- GPblog.com
Pierre Gasly has not received a penalty for the incident with his teammate. The two hit each other after Gasly re-entered the track, as both Frenchmen suffered significant damage and did not finish the race.
On the last restart, Gasly tried to overtake Carlos Sainz on the outside at turn one as the two both braked very late. Eventually, the Frenchman landed on the grass and Sainz tapped Fernando Alonso around.
Gasly then re-entered the track, but Ocon had much more speed and tried to pass his teammate on the outside at turn two. Gasly let his car run a little to the outside, which sent his teammate and himself into the wall. The FIA has decided to take no further action around the incident, which is good news for Gasly, as the Frenchman was close to a race ban due to a growing number of penalty points.
