Alonso on third title: 'I believe it's possible'

Fernando Alonso is having a dream start to the season with his new team Aston Martin. The Spaniard finally has a car again that allows him to fight at the front. He stated that a third world title is still his goal.
Alonso in recent years has had a car that was not competitive enough to fight for podiums. But this year, everything is different. Aston Martin made a huge leap last winter and Alonso switched at exactly the right time. Last year, the British team finished seventh in the Constructors' Championship, but now they seem to be the second or third fastest team.
'Third title is the goal'
In an interview on the YouTube channel of Bang & Olufsen Alonso is asked if it is still possible for him to win another title in Formula 1. "That’s the aim for sure but I think at the moment we have to keep our feet on the ground. The aim for the team is just to have a good season. They were struggling a lot in 2022, so I think this 2023 campaign is just about getting better, get to know the car better and start a new project," said the two-time World Champion.
Alonso last became champion in 2006, when Lewis Hamilton was not even driving Formula 1. Nevertheless, the Spaniard always continues to believe in his third title. "I believe it’s possible, that’s why I keep racing obviously. You know the challenge is big – you know that you need to obviously overcome some difficulties, and some top teams that are now on top of the sport. But I race every day and I train every day – thinking that the third title is possible."
