Mercedes has no plan B for 2024: 'Happy with current drivers'
- Cas van de Kleut
It is far from certain whether Lewis Hamilton will still be driving for the Mercedes team in 2024. The 38-year-old Briton's contract expires after this season, and no talks are yet underway to extend it.
'No talks with other drivers'
There is currently a lot of speculation about Hamilton's future. However, Toto Wolff is convinced that the seven-time world champion will stay. He tells Motorsport.com in an interview that he has no plan B: "I don't want to engage in discussions with other drivers, because I'm happy with the ones that are in the team, that's for sure."
Hamilton himself has yet to reveal his future plans. The Austrian Mercedes team boss says he expects to hear what the plans are in time: "I don't think that Lewis would say: 'I can't do this any more. I'm out of here tomorrow.' He would always feel the responsibility for the team. He wouldn't leave the team alone. Drivers can always take decisions (like that), but he wouldn't let us down."
