Oscar Piastri is seen by many as a major talent within Formula 1. The McLaren driver picked up his first points at his home Grand Prix in Australia. Teammate Lando Norris also sees talent in the 22-year-old driver.
The Briton, who has been Daniel Ricciardo's teammate for the past two years, says of his new teammate to Channel 4: “He’s doing a very good job, honestly. I feel so weird talking like I’m the older guy, the more experienced one! But he’s doing a very good job, handling the pressure extremely well I would say, I think that is something that is very strong that I’ve seen in him."
The Australian failed to finish during the Bahrain race due to a mechanical problem, and he was also unlucky with damage early in the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix, forcing him to resume the race from the back. Now after three races, Piastri picked up points for the first time.
Having a new teammate also takes some getting used to for Norris: “He’s calm, he’s controlled and he’s quick, so I feel like he’s got a lot of what you need and he’s pushing me more than what I’ve had the last few years, which is a good thing for us as a team as well."
