Ferrari has replacement for departed Sanchez
Montecchi was appointed chief project engineer at the Italian racing stable as recently as 2022, where he has worked since 2004. He specialises in chassis and suspension and is cited as a "key figure" in the current technical staff of Head of Chassis, Enrico Cardile.
Together with Diego Tondi, who heads the aerodynamics department, Montecchi will work on a series of updates that Ferrari plans to introduce in the coming races. The plan is to gradually apply the update packages to the SF-23 until the Spanish Grand Prix, which is on the calendar in early June.
The Italian racing stable will hope to take over the role of second team over the course of the season from Aston Martin, which is currently second in the constructors' standings behind Red Bull Racing. However, updates are also hard at work at Silverstone, and Fernando Alonso previously warned that the AMR23 could look very different by the end of the season than it does now.
