Horner on Verstappen's future plans: 'He is not going to be an Alonso'

Red Bull Racing team boss Christian Horner does not see Max Verstappen spending his entire life in the Formula 1 car, acknowledging that the Dutchman might be eventually done with the sport. Following recent comments from the Dutchman about the new sprint race format, rumours about Verstappen quitting earlier than 2028 are circulating.
Horner addresses Verstappen's future plans. He does so in an interview with Sky Sports News. "Max is his own man, and he's very, very strong in his opinions and on his outlook on what he wants to do in his life," Horner said. "And I don't see him being a Fernando Alonso and still racing at 41 or 42 years of age, or maybe not in Formula 1."
Verstappen and Horner on hustle
Despite a strong start to his quest for a third drivers' title by winning two of the first three races of the season, Verstappen has stated that the current 24-race calendar is too full and busy. "It's tough for the drivers, it's tougher for the mechanics that are travelling at the beginning of the week and returning on a Monday after an event.", Horner said.
The Briton does see that the passion is still alive with the Dutchman. "If he is not racing on the track at the moment, he is racing in the virtual world, he is driving GT cars for fun, and his passion is just driving and racing. As long as that remains his hobby, he will continue."
