Russell is grateful to Verstappen, though 'they would take the title too'

George Russell hopes to become World Champion in Formula 1 at some point in his life. Talking to Squaremile, the Brit elaborated on his title aspirations and compliments from his fellow competitors.
Several drivers, including Max Verstappen, frequently revealed that they see a future World Champion in George Russell. The Mercedes driver feels flattered, when confronted with the Dutchman's words. "I mean obviously it’s always nice to hear positive things being spoken about you," he said. Still, the race winner makes a comment: "there’s probably a handful of drivers on the grid right now who are all World Champion worthy, some of which are already World Champions, some of which haven’t won World Championships yet and would definitely win a World Championship if they were in the right car at the right time," Russell said.
Russell expects to drive in Formula One for a while yet
He still has some time himself he thinks. "I believe I’ve got a good 15 years left in me. It’s just about continuing to work and keep on pushing, never giving up and ultimately making sure that I’m ready to fight when you’ve got that machine beneath you that’s capable of winning. If my opportunity is tomorrow, I’m ready tomorrow. If my opportunity is in three, four, five, or even ten years, so be it." It seems he will have to put his dream on hold for a while longer. In his W14, Russell will probably not be able to compete for the world title this year.
