'Schumacher may finally start doing 'more important work' for Mercedes'

Mick Schumacher will do more work for Mercedes in the simulator from the European races onwards. The German was already hoping to play a bigger role and will be able to do so more in the coming period.
Schumacher joined Mercedes after leaving Haas. There, he has been assigned the role of reserve driver, behind regular drivers Lewis Hamilton and George Russell. Should one of the two drivers be unable to compete, Michael Schumacher's son will take over the seat.

For now, however, it has remained just watching from the sidelines. After two seasons at Haas, that fell hard on Schumacher. So he already let it be known that he wants to do more, but during races that are far from the home base in Brackley, Schumacher has to come along for marketing purposes. During European races, that will change.
According to Auto, Motor und Sport, Schumacher will be in Brackley all weekend during the Imola Grand Prix to test the setup in the simulator. That way, the German can help perfect the W14 for the race weekend. Then, should something happen to one of the drivers, Schumacher will be flown in if he still needs to jump in the car. After Imola, Schumacher will also be in the simulator more often during the other European races.
