Kerbs discussion flares up again after serious injury to F4 driver at Imola

Once again, controversy has arisen over the use of kerbs on circuits. During an F4 race in Imola, Italy, a driver was seriously injured after launching his car over a 'sausage' kerb. In a few weeks, Formula 1 will visit this circuit Enzo e Dino Ferrari.
During the F4 race, Irishman Adam Fitzgerald lost control of the wheel, sliding off the track backwards. On the way, he encountered a high kerb, which launched his car. The car just barely broke in half when it hit the ground.
Broken vertebrae
His team RPM, meanwhile, informed that Fitzgerald had fractured three vertebrae in his back. RPM says the Irishman is lucky he did not suffer a paraplegia in the incident. Fitzgerald is likely to be sidelined for at least a month.
Accidents occur regularly with kerbs that are too high. Last weekend during the second free practice of the IndyCar race in Long Beach, Callum Ilott and Rinus Veekay flew through the air over a kerb that was too high and into the tyre pile. Alexander Peroni's huge crash at Monza in 2019 is also still very much on the minds of many.
