Aston Marin is the surprise of the season: last year, the British team finished seventh in the championship and now the team is second. There was a long break between the third and fourth races, so now Aston Martin is being tested to see if it can develop as quickly as the traditional top teams in Formula 1.
Aston Martin had a great winter and took an exceptional step forward with the AMR23. Fernando Alonso scored a podium in every race, finishing third each time. The question now is: can Aston Martin maintain its current form?
Development crucial
Having a good car at the start of the season is not enough in Formula 1. In fact, teams must also develop their car during the season to stay competitive. Red Bull Racing can do this extremely well, as demonstrated last year in their battle with Ferrari. Alonso too sees that his team has now reached a crucial point.
"Now we have to deliver. From Baku, Imola, Barcelona, the teams will start to bring upgrades to the car and we need to also be a top team in that regard," Alonso told Motorsport.com. The Spaniard hopes to be a contender for the world title in 2024.
