Russell: 'No drastic changes this weekend yet'
- GPblog.com
The big changes needed to make Mercedes' W14 competitive for race wins again are still some time away. George Russell talks about minor changes for the Azerbaijan GP.
Will Ferrari pose a threat?
These small changes could potentially have a big effect, though. After all, it is pretty close behind Red Bull Racing between the F1 teams. Russell told GPBlog.com and others at the FIA press conference: "We've got a few new bits. Just sort of part of the standard development process throughout the year, but nothing that will transform it this weekend."
Russell continued: "But we'll see. It's been tight with Ferrari and Aston Martin the last two races. Ferrari have historically been pretty quick here. They're always quick on the C5 tyre compound circuit. So here, in Monaco and in Singapore, they're pretty competitive." Russell expects fierce opposition from Ferrari for the Azerbaijan GP, as he did in Monaco and in Singapore. Speaking to other media, Russell also said on the paddock that Ferrari always has a trick up its sleeve in Baku.
