Albon sees problems with sprint: 'Points always go to those four teams'

Alexander Albon faces sprint race problems in his current form. To GPblog and others, Albon reflected on a Saturday where he showed a strong performance but still remains scoreless.
Albon managed to hold his own in the sprint race and even seemed to be on his way to scoring points for some time. With the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll, the Williams driver had a nice duel for eighth place, but Albon eventually had to give in. This makes Albon the first driver to fall outside the point on Saturday, as only the first eight drivers receive points during the sprint race.
"It's a bit of a shame because obviously finishing P9 we had a great result but no reward, so we might as well have not taken part," reflected Albon. "The four top teams filled the points. There are only eight positions for the points in the sprint race, and unless something's disastrous or one of them DNFs, I think they're always going to be the teams that score the points."
Albon fears the sprint will become irrelevant for the midfield
"I just feel like what we have now is we've got four cars that are going to finish in their main positions unless something happens," Albon explains when asked if he thinks the sprint is working well at the moment. "That's fine, but for the midfield teams, it just makes you push towards Sunday. Your whole focus is on Sunday. It would be better if you have 10 teams that can fight for those points, but unfortunately, that is not the case. I've been happy with every session so far this weekend. But again, no rewards, so we'll have to focus on tomorrow."
